TUTORING AND REINFORCEMENT
Is your kid having a hard time keeping up with coursework, understanding content, or achieving passing grades?
TEENGLISH is our tutoring and reinforcement area where we elaborate an individual plan, based on the students’ needs and interests (pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, reading comprehension, listening, writing or literary analysis, among others) in order to help them be successful in school.
Most of the kids we receive in TEENGLISH are having difficulty in their English classes in school. What we do is take specific recommendations from the school, analyze the student’s history in English, from what the parent tells us as well as what the student reflects. From this feedback we set specific goals, for example: construct main ideas in writing from read texts. We design specialized lessons geared towards achieving the student’s goals. Each lesson has an objective which is shown and discussed with the student at the beginning of the lesson. At the conclusion of the lesson the student and the tutor discuss and analyze the objective and the activities and whether the lesson was successful.
Setting clear goals for every lesson and discussing it with the student allows the student to learn with more facility as well as immediately identify problem zones that can be addressed during the following lesson. The rapport and communication among tutors and students in TEENGLISH is crucial for the learning process of the students. Parents and students will receive a written report with the planning and execution of each lesson after each class.
We have two programs: One on One and Personalized Group. Each works with the student’s particular needs and is designed to help them achieve their goals. TEENGLISHERS tend to struggle in school with their performance, this in turn affects their self-esteem and may affect the student’s view of subjects taught in English. The goal of TEENGLISH is to create alternatives that are not possible in class as one teacher can not tend to the individual needs of all of their students all of the time. This program will also help the student build a more positive relationship with English related skills and subjects as it will cultivate the individual’s confidence levels, where the student will not just improve their marks but different crucial abilities like speaking in public.
One on One
A One on One environment with a professional tutor allows the tutor to experience first hand the strengths and difficulties the individual student is having and thus be able to create personalized strategies to allow the student to reach their academic goal.
Personalized Group
The personalized group program works with maximum four students at a time. The students each have their own work plan and work in different activities that are precisely planned so that when one student is writing, for example, the tutor is explaining to the other student and so on. Some group activities will be planned where the students practice their oral English or present their work to the group, strengthening different skills that are crucial for the 21st century learner. Groups are carefully chosen in order to allow a beneficial dynamic between the students and the group generates positive feedback on each student's learning process.
